01Decisions

The decisions IT Strategy helps leadership make

Connect technology investment to business priorities, with clear reasons for what to do first.

  1. What should we fund this year?

Investment priorities ranked by business impact, risk and cost, not by which vendor called last.

  2. What needs replacing, and when?

Lifecycle plans for hardware, software and services so replacements are budgeted, not emergencies.

  3. Which risks matter most?

A plain-language view of technology and security risk, with what it would take to reduce each one.

  4. Are our vendors right for us?

Vendor and contract strategy: overlap, gaps, renewals and whether a change is worth the disruption.

  5. What comes next?

A roadmap that connects technology work to where the business is heading over the next one to three years.

02Roadmap

A roadmap leadership can actually read

Each item on a ZARS roadmap carries a type, a time horizon and a reason. It is reviewed and re-prioritized as the business changes.

06Questions

IT Strategy questions

What is IT Strategy?

IT Strategy connects technology decisions to business goals through a prioritized roadmap, a realistic budget, risk reviews and vendor planning. ZARS works with company leadership to build the plan and review it as the business changes.

When does a business need IT Strategy?

Usually when technology decisions are being made without a plan: budgets are reactive, equipment fails before it is replaced, risks are unclear, or leadership is weighing projects and vendors without an independent technical view. It is useful when a business has outgrown informal technology decisions and needs a clear way to prioritize investment.

Does IT Strategy include day-to-day IT management?

IT Strategy focuses on planning, budgeting and decision support. Day-to-day support and system administration are covered by Managed IT or your existing IT team or provider. The scope and frequency of strategy reviews are agreed in advance.

Can we get IT Strategy without Managed IT?

Yes. IT Strategy can be engaged on its own, alongside an internal IT team or another provider. It can also be included in a higher-tier ZARS Managed IT relationship.

Give technology a plan, not just a support contract.

Start with an IT Assessment. It produces the current-state picture a roadmap is built on.
