01What’s managed
What Managed IT includes
“Managed” is more than answering tickets. For each part of your environment, ZARS supports it, watches it, secures it and keeps a record of it.
| Area | Supported | Monitored & maintained | Secured | Documented |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| People | Help desk for everyday issues, access requests and escalation | Recurring issues spotted and fixed at the cause | MFA, security awareness training and phishing simulations | Who has what access, and why |
| Computers | Remote troubleshooting and software deployment | Health monitoring and patching on a defined schedule | Endpoint protection, detection and response | Inventory, age and warranty for lifecycle planning |
| Accounts & Microsoft 365 | Mailboxes, licensing, shared resources, password and MFA help | Account and configuration hygiene reviewed | Identity protection, MFA and email security | Tenant configuration and licence assignments |
| Data | File and restore requests | Backup jobs checked for success | Protected backup copies for endpoints, servers and Microsoft 365 | What is backed up, where, and how it is restored |
| Network | Connectivity troubleshooting | Firewall, switch and Wi-Fi monitoring | Firewall management and DNS/web protection | Network diagrams, configuration and vendor contacts |
02Help desk
Support your people can actually use
When something stops working, your staff contact one team that already knows your environment. Requests are logged, prioritized and resolved, and patterns are tracked so the same problem does not keep returning.
Typical requests
- Microsoft 365, Outlook and Teams problems
- Password resets and MFA help
- Application access and permissions
- Workstation, printer and peripheral issues
- Connectivity and remote-access trouble
- Coordinating with your software and telecom vendors
03User lifecycle
Joiners, movers and leavers, handled the same way every time
Most access problems, and many security incidents, trace back to how people are added, changed and removed. ZARS runs this as a defined process, not a favour.
Joiner
Accounts, licences, device and access are ready on day one, based on role rather than guesswork.
Mover
When someone changes role, access is adjusted so permissions do not quietly accumulate.
Leaver
Access is removed promptly, mailboxes and files are handled, and the device is recovered or wiped.
04Scope
What is included, and what is scoped separately
A Managed IT fee should not be a mystery. Core operations are part of the relationship; larger or specialized work is scoped on its own so you can decide on it deliberately.
Typically part of the relationship
- Help desk and end-user support
- Endpoint monitoring, patching and software deployment
- Microsoft 365 and identity administration
- Endpoint and managed security tooling
- Backup and recovery for covered systems
- Network monitoring and management
- Onboarding, offboarding and access changes
- Vendor coordination, documentation and reporting
- Technology recommendations and planning input
Scoped, packaged or billed separately
- Server management
- Mobile device management
- Advanced email security and vulnerability management
- Advanced compliance work
- Advanced backup and disaster recovery (BCDR)
- Major migrations and infrastructure projects
- Cabling and onsite field services
- Specialized consulting projects
Packaging and pricing are confirmed in writing after the IT Assessment, based on your environment.
05Getting started
How a Managed IT relationship begins
Discover
Inventory users, devices, accounts, network, backup, vendors and the problems people already live with.
Document
Record the environment as it is, including what is undocumented, unsupported or end of life.
Stabilize
Address urgent risks first: unsupported systems, missing backups, accounts without MFA.
Standardize
Bring devices, accounts and security settings to a consistent baseline that can be maintained.
Run and review
Ongoing support and management, with periodic reviews of what is changing and what to plan for.
07Questions
Managed IT questions
What does Managed IT include?
ZARS Managed IT typically includes help desk and user support, endpoint monitoring and patching, Microsoft 365 and identity administration, endpoint and email security, backup and recovery, network monitoring, user onboarding and offboarding, vendor coordination, documentation, reporting and technology recommendations. The exact scope is written into each agreement.
Is ZARS a break/fix IT company?
No. Managed IT is a proactive, recurring relationship focused on keeping systems maintained, secure and documented so fewer things break. It is not hourly, call-when-it-breaks repair.
How many users does Managed IT suit?
Managed IT is typically a fit for organizations with roughly 5 to 99 users. Larger organizations or those with internal IT can work with ZARS through co-managed support, consulting or vCIO Services.
Do you provide onsite support?
ZARS is remote-first, which is how most support and management is delivered. When a task genuinely needs someone onsite, such as physical network work, it is coordinated and may be scoped separately.
We already have an IT provider. Can we switch?
Yes. Switching is handled as a structured onboarding: discovery, documentation, credential and vendor handover, then stabilization. Our switching checklist explains what to gather before you start.
